Today is about optimizing.

For the last couple of week I wasn’t sure whether to pursue creating completely new functionalities, developing the social graph with a friendfinder and all sorts of things that would make it possible to share content you’ve Faved, or to take a breath of fresh air and optimize tools that already exist.

Amongst many minor optimizations, here are the new features:

  • Media filter: instead of only being able to pin-point a favorite by it’s source or tag, you can now use the type of media (videos, music, photos, documents and maybe soon: articles) to search through your Faveous database.
  • Firefox Extension: For Firefox users who didn’t try out the Chrome extension and are stuck using the simple bookmarklet that doesn’t offer much. You can now start using the Faveous Firefox add-on that provides much more possibilities as to the organisation of your favorites. Download it now !
  • Private Favorites on Twitter: It seemed that Twitter users weren’t keen on making their favorites public so I thought of giving you the choice. From now on and if you want of course, once your Twitter favorite has been retrieved to your Reading list, it is automatically deleted from your Twitter account. If you want to enable it just go to the settings.
  • Gather Retweeted links in Faveous.
  • LinkedIn is ready to be part of your Faveous experience. Everything you share on the world’s n°1 professional social network will be retrieved to your Reading list.
  • And as usual other minor fixes…

Enjoy! Don’t forget to let me know if something bothers you.

Last but not least, this new extension now syncs your chrome bookmarks within Faveous. That’s right you’ve understood correctly, Faveous is the place for everything you like! (Anytime you add a new favorite into Chrome it will be synced with your Faveous account..). Download it now.

Discover in real time what the most faved links are on Faveous. With an existing database of 3+ million links we can match content across platforms & users in order to display an interesting list of web content you absolutely need to see!

Feed your curiosity on the Popular Page.

Another functionality we hope will optimize your use of Faveous is the “Reading List”. Sometimes you don’t have the time to fully read an article or watch something until the end. From now on, all your new links that haven’t been visited will be added to the “Unread” tab. Simple and efficient.

That’s not all, we also corrected and improved a lot of small details, will you find them ?

Introducing the Extended View !

We’ve been working for a while on a better way to display your favorites items in Faveous. Today we’re very proud to introduce the brand new “extended view”.

The extended view create unique visual experiences by embedding videos, images, rich media and article previews directly inside your faveous timeline :)

As a picture is worth a thousand words this is what he looks like:

Amazing isn’t it ? Available today for everyone :) Check it out!

Welcome to Tumblr & Vimeo

It has now been a couple of weeks since we haven’t added new services to Faveous. Today Tumblr, the micro-blogging platform, as well as Vimeo, the high definition video hub are being integrated to our service.

Adding these services:

As you’re all aware of , at least you should be, enter the “Add source” page. Click on the Tumblr and Vimeo icons and then authorize Faveous to connect to your account on both services, which will automatically gather your favorite content, making it accessible from your Faveous Homepage. If you’ve managed integrating other services such as Youtube or Facebook, reading this paragraph must have felt like a waste of time.

However, we’ve significantly improved the “tagging” functionality by giving you the possibility of creating tags of more than one word, spaced out of course. Faster, more convenient, we hope this is the kind of thing making Faveous a better place!

Have fun :)

PS: Other services and exiting new features will be arriving next week!

Public Pages are live! Get your own!

Today we are proud to introduce public pages for everybody. What it means is that you can, share your faveous timeline with others and most importantly discover new content by exploring your friends’ favorites.

How to enable this ?

It’s as simple as picking a username and sharing it with your friends on Twitter and Facebook.

You can always change your mind an make your timeline private.

Fresher timeline, Auto-complete tagging & RSS feed

I hope you had a great and sunny weekend. On our side, we worked very hard to improve again and again the user experience. As you will notice, the timeline has evolved a lot and is now much nicer and easier to read.

On top of that we improved the “tagging” feature with an auto-complete suggestion of tags that is much simpler to use.

And last but not least, we built a personal rss feed for each user which allows you to consult your favorite streams from Google Reader, Netvibes or any rss Reader :)
